Short Pixie Haircuts for 2012

Hairstyles in 2012 will be cute, stylish, and very easy to manage.  The pixie cut hairstyle, for example, is a super short cut that works great on a heart shaped face.  Celebrities like Halle Berry and Victoria Beckham are now sporting this style and showing how truly feminine you can be even with your hair cropped short.

Unlike the boy-like pixies of the 1970s, the short pixie cut hairstyle for 2011 is a little bit funky.  Wear it spiked, messy, or with the front a little longer and combed down over the face with an emo flair.  A little product and some fun hair color can turn your pixie into a fashion statement.

While Twiggy’s pixie in the ‘70s had a sort of androgynous feel, as did those of Grace Jones and Annie Lennox in the 1980s, today’s pixie comes with options.  Keep it short in the back and on the sides, with a longer shock of hair on top.  You may choose to wear this in a modern spiked do, or you may wish to comb it down to the front or to the side.  While the pixie is not generally associated with bangs, they are not out of the question.  Short, straight bangs that hang directly over the forehead, or longer bangs sweep to the side of the face.
